Matic's knee to the nuts was, in the modern game, a red card but it did remind me of one of my favourite moments back in 85/86 or 86/87 I think? Mark Ward in a Zenith Data Systems tie against Chelsea under lights home at UP. Did something similar to Matic but with proper power and really connected with David Speedie who screamed properly ( not one of these modern day faux screams they all do now). Speedie was pole axed good and proper. Got him right in the orchestras. Ahhh happy days.

Agree with you there, apart from the hair fondling, I'd call it hair ruffling.

I don't want to disappoint you, but I think I heard that they are all up there because they will stay up north until after the Leeds match.

Whether that's right or wrong, it doesn't change the fact that we are indeed a United club, on the player/coach/fans side of things, at least.

One thing missing from last night was Fernandes' booking for unsporting conduct.

Couldn't be clearer.

I'm sure its been mentioned on the thread somewhere, but how great was it to see the first team players not involved travelling up to Manchester to cheer the team on... I've not noticed that before from us or any other side, not in such numbers.

There really does seem to be an incredible team spirit with even the new boys fully involved in celebratory hugs and hair fondling... great to see and hopefully the prelude of something special happening at our club.

A few years ago I was very disillusioned with football, greedy footballers in general and even our players but this group of players and the coaching staff seem like a very likeable group of individuals.

That chant was sung pretty much non stop on Sunday but you knew it would come back to bite you on the bum, so to speak.

Cheers Fifth, I could make out the first bit but not the second.

Gutted I missed last night, buzzing for Leeds on Saturday.

I read the BBC match report this morning, it was pretty much all about Manc fielding a completely different side to the one that played on Sunday but completely fails to mention that we pretty much did the same. This irked me more than it should have.

Yeah, Sky were a bit embarrassing over their fawning of Man Utd.

I can't complain though, seeing as I've never given them a penny and watched them for decades as a PIRATE.

Man United News, er sorry I mean Sky Sports News were having an in depth 4 handed phone in inquest into what went wrong this morning and they were still at it 20 minutes later after I'd changed channels and swapped back.

I presume you’re talking about the part when Fornals turned, put the ball through the attackers legs and passed to Bowen creating a break.

Absolute class from young Jimmy F, I had to keep rewinding it!

"So try telling the travelling fans, deafening throughout, that the Carabao Cup doesn’t matter, although the game could have done without their questionable Cristiano Ronaldo song."
